The Long Haul: Heather on the Paradox of Female Happiness
What a treat to read an honest admission that we mommies don’t always feel happy. I sometimes let blogland get me down… all the pretty pictures of moms crafting/gardening/cooking with their kids, and I wonder what the soundtrack sounded like. At my house it would be, “Do we haaaaave to do this?” or “I want orange!” “No, I had orange first!” etc. My husband has to continually bring me back to the reality that those women are not blogging their lousy days. (That’s why I come back here! REAL women!) I’m with Kim. It’s in the doing something hard over the long haul, doing it the best we humanly can, and knowing the satisfaction later that is my goal. How happy will I be when I see four wonderful adults contributing to this world in their unique ways, knowing I’m their MOM?! That’s joy, baby!
