Carrying them both: Katherine on the Secrets
A wise Quaker Friend, who has had a lot of sadness in her life due to severe mental, emotional disabilities suffered by one of her sons–gave a message at meeting that I think I will always remember. I believe her message carries weight with me because I know her as a dedicated talented person–always kind, and incredibly effective at envisioning and executing significant projects at meeting at and her work. She said that she believe the secret of life is to be able to carry your sorrows and your joys pretty much simultaneously, and to understand that you will have a little more of one at different times but that they will both always be present.
