How to Be a Famous Writer Before You’re Dead
Your Name in Lights and Your Words in Print
by Ariel Gore
I kind of think I should say I’m embarrassed to be reading a book called How to be a Famous Writer Before You’re Dead, because of course I DO want to be a famous writer, and definitely before I’m dead, but it’s such a good book that I won’t even pretend.
Part writing memoir, part writing manual, part collection of author interviews, part life advice — all wonderful. Ariel Gore does a beautiful job weaving all these threads together into a book that is smart, funny, inspiring, and incredibly helpful. I’d like to sit down with Ariel, have a cup of coffee, and talk all afternoon, but instead I’ll read her book.
Even if you DON’T want to be a famous writer, you should too.
