The Love of My Life: Judy on Wedded Bliss

Maybe it’s just our family’s “quirky” sense of humor, but even as it was happening, I enjoyed our disastrous wedding. Having your father come down with a nasty GI bug the day before the ceremony (he had to leave the altar TWICE — including just before the vows, which prompted loud gasps from the guests) started a chain of events that could only have occurred in a very bad sit-com. Hotel rooms flooded, contacts and wallets were lost, cars were stolen, and thunderstorms were epic (Grandma Peg swears there was a lightning strike INSIDE the plane). Somehow, love and joy helped everyone find the humor in the first day of our 35-year (and counting) union. Martha Stewart would not have approved, but the experience was uniquely ours, and I got my three things: daisies, chocolate cake, and the love of my life.
