An Odd Place: Amy on School

It’s such an odd place. Sending your kids off to school. Since Jake is in fifth grade, I’ve had quite a bit of experience with it but I still wonder what it will be like with Quinn. I can hardly wait to get Jake out the door in the morning but start watching the clock right after lunch for the 4:10 bus. And then it’s only a matter of minutes before I’m exasperated yet again. I think you just have to trust that you’re giving them what they need at home and then they will be prepared for time away from you. You know, ‘give a man a fish’ and all? I read so many blogs written by homeschooling parents. I just don’t have nearly enough confidence in my own ability to provide a suitable academic education for that. But a moral and street-smart education – I do.
